Common questions

  • Are you a brewery, tracking app, or clinic? People keep misreading "BrewTrace".

We hear this often. BrewTrace is a specialty coffeehouse in Telok Ayer — the name refers to tracing coffee lots from origin to cup, not brewing beer, GPS tracking, or medical services. "Brew" means the beverage we serve; "trace" means the lot code and cupping sheet on the bar. If you arrived looking for a taproom, a logistics dashboard, or a health clinic, we are none of those — but we will gladly make you an espresso while you reorient.

  • What is a lot code?

Each coffee we serve carries an internal identifier (for example BT-2407-GTM) linking to a sheet with origin, process, elevation, roast date, and cupping notes. It is the same code on the menu board, your cup ring, and retail bags.

  • Do I need to book for a normal visit?

No — walk in during open hours. Booking is only required for public cupping sessions, private tastings, and large groups (six or more).

  • Can I work from BrewTrace?

Laptops are welcome during off-peak hours. We ask that you avoid video calls without headphones and yield window tables during the lunch rush (11:30–14:00).

  • Do you offer decaf?

When a decaf lot passes our cupping threshold we list it on the board — availability is not constant. Ask the barista on the day.

  • Is there vegan milk?

Oat and soy are available at no extra charge for dietary need; other alt milks are +$0.80 as listed on the menu.

  • How often does the menu change?

When a lot runs out or a new shipment clears cupping — typically every two to four weeks per slot, not on a fixed calendar.
